Keturah and Lord Death

I really enjoyed this book. At the beginning, I was a little confused, as I figured more than one day had past, but the author was still dragging on the plot of that day. I liked the book because the story began on the first page. No waiting for the story to get interesting. As I was reading I expected the story to have a happy ending and in a way, it did. Keturah's two friends got the men they loved and so did Keturah, but not the one I expected. She so badly wanted to find her true love, and worked so hard to find him, but she already found it. Long ago, in Death, himself. The one she thought to be evil and heartless, she loved him and he loved her. She tried to block him out as a child, but could no longer.

The End of the World As We Know It

So far, this is one of the best books I've read. I'm not really sure why, it just had a kind of hold on me and I sat on my ass for two hours and read it. I didn't move. It sort of entranced me. Usually I can get right into books and let my imagination run, like I'm actually there. This book had this powerful effect on me, only more so. It was very well written, but it was also a bit twisted. I liked how it ended. It didn't leave you hanging. It told you what happened with the same amount of detail as the rest of the story. The ending didn't seem hurried, like the author just wanted to finish the story and get his cheque. I also liked how the author repeatedly incorporated the title in the text. The story made sense. It was realistic. It was as if this really could have happened and the author seemed like he could have been writing about his expiriences.

The Blue Helmet

I really enjoyed this book. I started reading it before I joined the club and my teacher pointed out that it was on the list. It was actually quite inspiring. A boy about my age turned his life around and gains a friend in the process. He learns to be responsible and what it's like to be relied on. Before then, nobody had really trusted or depended on him and he liked the feeling. He realizes near the end that the world doesn't really revolve around him and that by being a bully to a bully, he's not a hero in anyone's book.
